Job: Oracle & UNIX Support (HOLOS a bonus)
We are looking for a new person to join the Co-operative Web team.
For those of you that have come straight to this job ad, we are a workers co-operative based in Longbridge, Birmingham with 11 employees. Being a workers co-op means that the company is owned and controlled by the people who work here: this may go some way to explaining why we have table football and an arcade machine in the office, a relaxed dress code and social events out of office hours!
So – what do we need at the moment? We currently have an opportunity available to work in our support service section, which we are looking to grow over the coming years. The role involves supporting a number of clients, both big and small, using a range of technologies including Oracle and Unix, however initially we are looking for someone to provide support on our main support contract. They are a multi-national company and using an Oracle 7 based data warehouse , which we maintain, as well as a bespoke forecasting application (built using an OLAP language called Holos – knowledge of which is not required as it will be taught in-house) that queries the data warehouse. While this will initially be the main focus of the role we are actively expanding the range of services and clients for this team, so someone with a willingness to learn is essential. Being a team player is important but you must also be able to work unsupervised and act on your own initiative.
We need someone who can hit the ground running so proven Oracle and UNIX skills are a must. Any other skills and experiences are a bonus, and if you know anything about Holos then that would be brilliant... This role will also involve speaking to customers so good people skills are also required.
To summarise we need a person with Oracle and Unix skills (other database & Linux experience will be considered), would enjoy the challenge of learning a new application and feel they can fit in with our way of working.
