Technical  Account / Project Manager
Working directly under the Managing Director
£30-37k depending upon skills and experience.

This is a unique role for someone with technical knowledge of a wide range of IT services who can win new business and develop our current client portfolio. We are a fast-growing new technology company based in Longbridge. We develop and architect a wide range of innovative bespoke and legacy systems across four teams at our Longbridge site. We like to position ourselves as our client's 'technical friend' -  this would be a key part of your role. We like to get to know the needs of the people we do business with, how their business works and build relationships of trust and mutual benefit with them, and so we help them out with queries, problems and pitches even when these don't relate to any specific jobs. This friendly and co-operative attitude means we are normally the first people they will ask to help them with any web or computer based needs they have. Our clients are very important to us, and we base our company ethic on giving them a fair, fast and reliable service.

Working alongside the Managing Director your role would involve dealing with clients, providing this 'technical friend' type service and maintaining our special relationship to grow both new business and the business we get from our current client base. The ideal candidate for this role would be someone who is technically confident, genuinely friendly and likable, who enjoys researching and talking about technical issues and who can think on their feet to provide innovative solutions for our clients. We pride ourselves on thinking of a solution in an innovative way which gets the client their priority wishlist on schedule, and in budget, exactly the way they imagined it - or preferably even better. This means you will need to be a conceptual thinker who knows their tech, who can understand what a client wants, ask the right questions, come up with ideas and can crucially spec a job so that our technical architects get it right first time. You also need to be an expert googler who has an intelligent approach to using the resources on the internet to fill in the gaps of their technical expertise.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a technical background who has moved into Project Management or Account Management and wants the challenge being part of a small company that they will eventually own a stake in. This is a unique role, and many different kinds of experience and expertise are relevant, but we imagine that essential and desirable skills, abilities and qualities for the successful candidate would include:

  • Degree or Masters level training or equivalent level of business or technical experience in a web/ IT related management role.
  • Experience of either running a business, team management, account, project or client management.
  • Experience of B2B sales, account or project management.
  • A high level of technical knowledge of at least of two of the areas listed under 'our services' below.
  • Ability to manage own schedule and work independently.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with technical directors.
  • Experience of either programming, writing technical specs, tendering or architecting systems.
  • Understanding of technical aspects of the internet
  • Great all round technical knowledge, and the ability to research any gaps quickly and intelligently.

If you have a some or all of the above attributes we would love to hear from you.

To apply please send your C.V. and a covering letter explaining how your unique blend of skills and experience fit you for this role.ask@web.coop

If you haven't received a letter of response from us within six weeks of making your application please get in touch to check progress on this role.

Our services:

content management and website builds  for graphic design/marketing agencies, data transformation tools to enable users to publish data to the internet, 3rd line technical support to all different sizes of companies and fully bespoke web based software solutions.  You will be expected to help for the full project life-cycle, from initial brief or pre-sales advice through to mapping out the deliverables and helping the end user with their new software or service.

Who we are:

We are a workers co-operative based in Longbridge, Birmingham with 11 employees. Being a workers co-op means that the company is owned and controlled by the people who work here: this may go some way to explaining why we have table football, lots of plants, free coffee and an arcade machine in the office, a relaxed dress code and social events out of office hours!

To summarise we need a confident outgoing person with a level of technical understanding to help, support, encourage and manage our clients so if you like the sound of that and are keen to join Co-operative Web please get in touch...

No agencies please.
