Davis Derby

The Challenge:

Davis Derby offer a range of products that enable Fork Lift Truck distributors to provide asset management technology to manage their fleet sales more effectively, offering operational statistics to enable effective management and control of customer contracts. Devices are fitted to individual trucks to help monitor, co-ordinate and better manage the fleets to include such things as the performance maintenance procedures in a timely manner, avoidance of operational constraints etc. Key data is transmitted to customers in report form via email and a more dynamic solution was required that employed browser technology and the web as a delivery medium. Developing an in house solution or commissioning external services would prove to be costly and thus, ultimately have an adverse impact on unit costs in a cost sensitive market.

The Critical Success Factors:

Any solution had to either provide a complete replacement to all back-office functions, with the attendant risks in terms of time, effort, cost and potential disruption to their existing markets. Alternatively they could foresee considerable potential in something that would take their existing data sources and simply provide the web face which they lacked, where any additional functionality being viewed as an added bonus.

The Solution:

Using webSNAPS as the underlying technology to enable DD to rapidly offer a web interface to existing and new customers we added an operational layer to the product, that would enable DD to deploy and configure the operation of webSNAPS on a multi-customer basis. In this way they can configure multi-company deployments to include the adoption of look & feel scenarios to suit and harmonise appropriately with individual customer branding demands.
